Sunday School

At First Congregational Church we hold our Sunday School during the worship service. We offer Nursery Care for infants and toddlers, and Sunday school classes for preschool (age 3 by September 1) through 7th grade. There are five classes: Preschool- Kindergarten, 1st- 3rd Grades, 4th & 5th Grades, and 6th &  7th Grades. Confirmation class is held after church throughout the year for 8th graders.  Sunday School is taught from the beginning of September through Celebration Sunday at the end of May.

We are pleased to be utilizing Cokesbury’s “One Room Sunday School” curriculum! This curriculum offers ways of teaching our children our faith traditions and Bible stories while introducing ways of relating these principles into everyday life.   One Room Sunday School includes materials that children ages 3 through middle school can study and learn together.  Students will grow together through comprehensive Bible study, application of Bible lessons to everyday discipleship, and a variety of age-appropriate activities.

On the first Sunday of the month, our children take a break from their usual Sunday School classes for a different kind of interactive learning experience.  We call this Rise & Shine Sunday.  All grades meet in one classroom where they do different activities related to a specific bible story or topic.  From the classroom, they move to the chapel to expand their knowledge of God with our Church School Director and special guests from the church community.
